If you have a slow speed connection, then it will be jumpy. It has got nothing to do with your computer's age!

I don't know what the specs on your old computer are, but my guess is you may need a new computer.. But it could also be your internet connection not being able to download the video fast enough.. but now that I think abotu it.. YouTube videos don't play untill the whole video is downloaded so it may be your computer but without the specs i can't say for sure.. if you are going to buy a new computer you should wait until next year. Microsoft is coming out with a new version of windows and office at the begining of the year. If you wait to buy your computer until they are sold with the new version of windows (windows Vista) early next year, it will save you the money on an upgrade later.

Lemme guess, you've got less than 512 MB RAM or just that much?
XP needs that much RAM just for itself to run smoothly.
Besides the old chip is probably 32 bit technology. XP works best on 64 bit.
You'd do better to ask the guy who sold you the XP for the proper configuration of upgrades that you need. They'll be glad to help you with that, practically.

Hate to say it but you need a newer computer. You can only upgrade older computers but so much. Think about buying a newer motherboard and processor, that's a lot cheaper. It has nothing to do with your internet connection and everything to do with your old slow computer

if the computer is old.........you ll spend more in upgrading it........than the process of buying a new one........since Dell offers new ones........for around 350.............any upgrades(memory, process chip, hard drive etc)........will be more than that in the long run.
