minimu wage is 5.25 X 40 hours per week x 52 weeks a year is a minimum annual salary of 10,920. Most states give 25% for one child and add 5% for each additional child. so 25% of 10,920 is 2,730 a year or 227.50 a month. Most judges won't just let dads not work. They say you can earn a minimum of at least that much, so you have to pay at least that much in support.

Hopefully they order the non-custodial parent to get a job and then figure it the usual way. If this person is able-bodied, there is no excuse.

they figure it on a minimum wage job. If the person does not work or have a job that is what its based upon. so they come to the conclusion from that....... so that is what the child support will be based upon.. They can then find a job at that wage.
