If i was a man and i had to pay maintenance towards a baby or toddler i would rather buy the child what she needs in the line of food, clothes, toys whatever. I would not give the mother of the child the money as most of the times the poor blighters dont get a thing. [Just joking] Fifty pounds a week sound fine to me, more than enough.

It depends on how much you make. Don't try to quit your job to get out of paying child support because you can be court ordered to work and your wages garnished. Just step up to the plate and be a Father and stop worrying about yourself. A judge will make sure that you have enough to live on.

How long is a piece of string? Pay as much as you can afford and help out with the extras in life ie. school uniform, Xmas etc
It's not easy rearing a child on ones own.

Most states require a percentage of your gross pay. Anywhere from 15% - 25% depending on the state in which you live. Most also have a minimum amount even if you are not working.

it is based on how much you make and she makes to decide "child SUPPORT" not maintenance. Try giving the child a little love too - its free you know!

for 18 years of my life, my dad paid between 600-800 per month. my mom never wanted more, but she could have asked for it if needed. that was in the 80s-late90s, so im sure that its changed a bit since then, but i wouldnt think she'd need more than 1000 per month...however, courts weigh all variables and come up with different numbers for all different situations. good luck.
