You can't, as a practical matter. Once the spammers get your e-mail address, that's about it. Getting a new e-mail address will help for a little while, as long as you never post it in a public place.
Whatever you do, do NOT click on any "unsubscribe" links in SPAM! That only verifies that your e-mail address is valid and will dramatically increase the amount of SPAM that you get.

Don't click, repeat, DO NOT CLICK any "unsubscribe" links on any spam e-mails!! A co-worker of mine did this and got a MASSIVE spyware infection on his computer that took a reformat and OS upgrade to get rid of.
Now, with that said ... you can install a spam filter on your mail client and see if that helps. Or, if your ISP gives you such an option, tweak the spam filter settings on the server side.

You should be able to scroll down to the bottom of the page and find a unsubscribe line in the fine print at the bottom or near the bottom. If not don't open the mail and just deleate it. it should eventually stop. It may take a while though.

Just setup some basic email filters for your mailing clients. Or use your network firewall to block the mails from some ip/domains but that's a little to harsh.

You have two choices, if they have a method of taking your name off their distribution list.... it's usually at the bottom of the email, Use it.
Your second choice and you may wish to do both choices is to put a filter on your inbox that tells it to delete the message when it arrives.
It will throw it out immediately, you can also mark it spam which will put it into your junk mail and not count against your mailbox size and that makes it managable also.

I hope you get an answer that works. I get the alerts on my FAX too. There is a number to call to eliminate your number from a list, but you have to give them your fax number to do so. This probably just goes on another list. I still get the same alerts, but from a different number. Frustrating.

I get them too. What to do depends on the email client. Mozilla Thunderbird is capable of spotting them and moving them to junk, in Outlook / Outlook Express create a rule that moves email that contain images and are not from someone you know to the junk folder.

Scroll to the end of the e-mail and see if their is (in really small letters) anything saying "unsubscribe" or "customer service" and click on that. I was inundated w/something similar and even when I clicked on "customer service" and had to send an e-mail comment to the co., right away it switched to "unsubscribe". I have no idea how I got on thier list, but it worked!

set them to 'spam' that way they will be auto deleted save you having to do it... or go to the web site thats sending them to you and get them to stop (either by clicking a link on the mail (which can lead to more spam) or loging into the site using the usnername/pass assiated with the emials and untick the "inform me" box or what ever they call it

You will have to set up your junk mail filters. Depends on what email system you are using for the set up procedure though.
