Open the hood. Find the compressor. It will have two places where there is a hook up spot, usually covered with a screw on cover. One is the high side, one is the low. The low is the smaller one, and the only one your freon kit will fit on. That's the one you want. Make sure which type of freon it is using, if in doubt, ask your mechanic or at the parts store.

If your Taurus uses R-12 refrigerant, the auto supply houses were forced to stop selling re-fill kits. So you may need to find a friend or some small "shade tree" garage with R-12 If you can use R-134, many auto parts houses still sell do-it-yourself kits. If you can't find them locally, try the web site www.jcwhitney.com

FOLLOW YOUR A/C LINE TO THE ACCUMULATOR (RECIEVER DRIER)
THERE WILL BE A CHARGING PORT ON IT OR ON THE LOW PRESSURE SUCTION LINE JUST BEFORE IT
THERE WILL BE A CAP ON IT SIMILIAR TO A TIRE VALVE CAP
THAT IS WHERE YOU ATTACH THE HOSE
BE SURE TO BLEED OFF THE AIR IN THE HOSE BY RELEASING A LITTLE FREON THROUGH IT BEFORE THE HOSE IS COMPLETELY SCREWED ON THE CHARGE PORT SO YOU WONT BE PUSHING AIR INTO THE SYSTEM
