Yes you can have fun just seeing all of the free stuff.
When you go to Las Vegas these usual things you will want to see for FREE:
1. Number one on my list is to watch the fountains displays in front of the Bellagio hotel. It usually runs every 15 minutes in summers starting at 3:00 PM; runs continuously until about midnight. Each show is different (there are more than 20 different tunes choreographed) so stay and watch at least 2 or 3. ALSO, go inside the Bellagio hotel to its lobby and view the beautiful glass sculptured ceiling AND the seasonal floral arrangements in the Atrium.
2. The “Sirens of TI” show (spectacular) in from of the Treasure Island Hotel; it runs every 90 minutes starting at about 4:30 PM. Simply stand on the sidewalk in front of the TI Hotel.
3. The volcano erupt in from of the Mirage Hotel; starting at dark until midnight. Again, just stand on the sidewalk in front of the hotel.
4. Go down to Fremont Street and see the light shows. There are usually 3 or 4 different shows, starting after dark (about 8:30PM) and lasting about 5 or 10 minutes each.
5. Go to the RIO hotel to see the Masquerade in the Sky show. It is like Mardi Gras parade, only suspended from the ceiling over the gambling floor. It runs every 60 minutes starting about 3:00 PM; the last show starts at 9:30 PM..
6. Go to the MGM Grand hotel to see the Lion habitat. This is better then the tiger habitat at the Mirage Hotel because there are usually trainers in with lions to keep them active.
7. Go to the Mirage hotel to see the white tigers that Siegfried and Roy show used. This is kinda passe because the tigers rarely do anything but sit and stare.
8. Go in Caesars Palace and walk through the Forum shops to the first fountain (its spectacular) then take the first fork to the left to go see the aquarium. Then continue on through the shops to the second fountain and wait for the show to start.
9. Go into the Flamingo hotel to see their animal habitat with flamingos and penguins.
10 The Excalibur hotel also has a free show starting at 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM.
If you are a Star Trek Fan, go to the Hilton (off the strip) for "Star Trek The Experience"; it cost about $25.
If you are not a big gambler, just play the penny machine; there are plenty of them there in all of the casinos now and you can play for 15 to 40 cents a pull/play. They are like video games and are great fun, and you can win money on them too. Last time I won almost $300 playing penny machines.

There is SO much to do out here! Depending on where you are staying, Most Hotel-Casinos have shops, restaurants, arcades, shows and a pool. You can go to the Adventure Dome and go on all the rides, visit the arcade and the circus shows. New York, New York you can ride the roller coaster around and through the casino. You can enjoy the go carts and roller coaster at the Sahara casino. At the end of Las Vegas Boulevard, you can visit the Stratosphere hotel and enjoy the rides at the top. If you enjoy shopping, it doesn't get any better than the Fashion Show Mall. The Fashion Show Mall has world class shopping, dining and actual fashion shows that take place on a runway that rises from the floor in the center of the mall. Their is amazing dining and entertainment everywhere you turn! There are free shows at The Rio, Fountains at Bellagio, Volcano at The Mirage, Lion Habitat at MGM Grand, Siren Show at Treasure Island and the light show in Downtown Las Vegas. There is an amazing aquatic habitat at Mandalay Bay called the Shark Reef, You could spend hours in there without getting bored. There is a classic car show at The Imperial Palace with everything from Marilyn Monroe's Pink Cadillac to Hitler's Mercedes - Great place! There are celebrity impersonator shows nightly at The Stratosphere and at The Imperial Palace, The one at Imperial is the best. You may enjoy seeing Phantom of the Opera at the Venetian, it is a great production! There are always shows like Chippendales, Thunder from Down under, American Storm and Fantasy. Of course you can wander the casinos, many of them offer shopping and over the top sights. Caesars Palace offers The Forum Shops which house top designers such as Prada, Hermes, Versace.. It is not to be missed. If you like discount designer outlets, there is a huge district of outlet stores in downtown Las Vegas! If you are renting a car, a 15 minute drive out to Primm Nevada will treat you with great outlets (Burberry, Tods, Neimans, Coach), flume rides, roller coasters and great dining! If you also want to see the sights, The Valley of Fire, Death Valley, Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon are all within a few hours of the city. I am a smoker and a drinker, not too experienced at gambling, but enjoy giving it a try. Gave 3-5-7 a try at Lady Luck in Fremont, (downtown Vegas, which I LOVED) and hit a ROYAL FLUSH!!!! It was so cool. Paid for my trip. But I am going to Cancun for a week in Nov. for 1600.00 all-inclusive for two, so maybe something like that would be more interesting to the both of you. Either way, it is a vacation and a place you have never seen, it can't be that bad!

There are all sorts of things to do in Vegas without gambling or seeing shows. Hoover Dam has tours and is fun to see. Lake Mead has dinner boat cruises. Take a drive out to Red Rock Canyon or up to Mount Charleston. You can even take a helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon. Have fun!

*INexperienced gambler.
Sure, it can be fun. But, if smokey casinos and people drinking are going to bother you, then it may not be so much fun. Since you haven't really gambled before, I'd also suggest staying in a 'lesser' hotel as they are more likely to have low bet tables. Someplace like Excalibur will have lower buy ins than Wynn ($5 vs. $20).
You can also take classes on how to gamble - they are usually offered for free by the casino and can be quite helpful. The easiest, least intimidating, table game is probably blackjack. The dealers will help you learn what you need to know. Stand and watch for awhile before sitting so that you aren't completely green going in.
Have fun!

You really can't go wrong with Las Vegas. I'm not a big drinker and I don't smoke and I love LV. There are so many things that you can do there: sight seeing, shopping, tours, shows, theme parks, etc. As for the gambling...On Fremont Street (downtown) you can find penny machines. They're actually kind of fun. You can sit there for hours and play off of $20! You can also find shows for less than $100. They won't be big name shows but they're entertaining. Do you guys enjoy clubs? There's always a club going on.
Have fun!

I don't drink or smoke or gamble very much and I love Las Vegas. It's worth going just to see the hotels on the strip and go downtown to see the laser light show on Freemont Street. The food is fabulous in Las Vegas, and there are other things to do besides gamble. Bellagio fountains are a must see as is the conservatory, go up in the Eiffel Tower at Paris, ride the Big Shot at Stratosphere, see the white tigers at Mirage and lions at MGM. There is so much to do in LV!

I don't smoke, drink, or gamble either and I love Vegas. There is tons of things to do and see. The shopping (even window shopping) is great. There are museums, art galleries, thrill rides, and free shows. If you want to learn how to play the casino games, most give free lessons. Call the front desk and ask when and where.

Well, you say you are not into the shows either, and from your picture, seeing nearly naked women probably won't pique your interest. I think you'd get more enjoyment out of your thousand bucks if you visited a national park or a city with something you've always wanted to see.

Yeah, just play the nickel slots, go to a buffet, and check out the Eiffel Tower. You could do it in a day. Hoover Dam is nearby too.
