You need to multiply it out and then factor so...

(x-1)(x-1) =7
x^2 - 2x +1 =7
x^2-2x-6
and then factor....!!!!!!!
hope it helped!!!

yup u need to factorise out the (x-1)^2
which becomes x^2 - 2x + 1 = 7
x^2 - 2x - 6 = 0
since it cannot be factorised, u shall have to use the general formula for x.
which is x = ( -b + or - (squareroot of b^2 - 4ac) ) / 2a
where a, b, and c are the coefficients of x^2, x, and the constant term respectively.

hope that helped :)

Multiply it out, getting x^2 - 2x + 1=7, which gives
x^2 - 2x - 6 = 0.
Once you get here, apply the quadratic equation to get your answers.

The opposite of square is square root. You need to remember that there are always two answers (+ and -) when you take the square root.

So you've got x - 1 = SQR(7) and x - 1 = -SQR(7).

You add 1 to get the final answers.

to get rid of the square, square root both side, then
x - 1 = square root of 7
x = (square root of 7) + 1

(x-1)^2=7

x^2-2x+1=7

x^2-2x-6

since y0u cann0t fact0r it anym0re.. use the quadratic equati0n t0 solve it!

-b +- sqrt of (b^2-4ac)
---------------------------- (it means all over)
2a

where y0ur a, b c, are the numerical c0efficients of y0ur x^2-2x-6!
a= 1
b= -2
c= -6

2 +- sqrt 0f (4-4(1)(6)
---------------------------
2

2+- sqrt 0f 29
------------------
2

y0u can cancel 2 since they are the same. s0 the final answer it + 0r - sqrt 0f 29! =)
