No, most people do not have the surplus cash flow to pay insurance. Why would gas this high be affordable?
We need to clamp down on medical malpractice lawsuits and disability fraud and general government waste and use this money for a universal health care system. A sliding fee scale for health care could also be used.

First off, it wouldn't stay at 7 bucks for very long. It would start creeping up right away. Taxes to the government is worse than crack cocaine. They can't get enough. But the big reason it would never fly is the transportation industry. Put the airlines out of business overnight. Would you pay three times as much to go see granny in Florida? Price of everything hauled by trucks would go outta sight. How about tomatoes for 10 bucks a pound. Can you say inflation? Remember when Jimmy Carter was president and a car loan was 21%? Inflation creates unemployment bigtime. Recession. Depression. Don't want to go there.

Socialized medicine does not work..just look at the HMO's for example. They were a smaller form of socialized medicine, using an equal network for all, equal payments, and a network of providers.

The price of gasoline should not be a counterpoint regarding health insurance. EVERYONE should have health insurance, but the problem is not the people or most of the drs...the problem is drug companies and high costs for EVERYTHING in the medical diagnostic fields.

No, universal health care is all care fits all exactly the same. I dont want my doctor treating me like a robot, in and out, never paying attention, just doing his meger job. The wealthly will still get the best care, at least now, I have a choice of getting the care I need and the CHOICE of that care.

Ask any Canadian how socialized medicine is working. 9 out of 10 will tell you how crappy it is. Why do u think all the canadians come to the U.S. for any type of major medical procedure.
