Weight loss!!

True story - I started painting miniatures in the evenings while watching TV. An unexpected benefit is that it keeps my hands and mind occupied, where I used to keep them occupied by eating. I've lost some weight and it's still coming off.

I've also been able to give some of the crafts as gifts - lower cost, and the people I give them to value them because they are homemade.

Mainly a stress reliever and giving you a chance to relax and possibly making a few dollars doing it depending on what your looking for in the craft hobby. You can choose what ever type crafts you would like to do and take it from there. Many people do it entirely for a living and seem to do okay.

First of all, it depends on why you want to do crafts: Is it for entertainment purposes? Is it for resale? Is it just to keep you busy or for therapeutic reasons?

So there you have it: the benefits may be just plain entertainment, or for resale for extra cash, or for even gift giving for Christmas or birthdays, or for keeping your hands and mind busy for therapeutic reasons. Some people who are diagnosed arthritis are encouraged to do crafts to keep their hands in movement, thus fighting back the illness.

Relaxation and the good feeling you get after you complete a craft and people brag on it :>)

Also, it could be a source of extra income (if your good).

I love doing arts and crafts with my kids. The smiles on their faces when you create something cool is worth more than anything.

It might be therapeutic for some people. I am sure occupational therapists use it for hand and hand-eye rehabilitation.

For others, at least it gives them something to do besides post on Yahoo! Answers. (like me)
