Mark Foley has accused a priest of sexually abusing him when he was a teenager. Since it has been documented fact that sexual abuse and specifically pedophilia is a repeated cycle, do you accept this projection of blame (i.e. that it is ultimately the priest's fault as well) or do you think Foley should accept the responsiblity for his wrongdoing (sole responsibility)?
Do you believe he is trying to mitigate his own guilt?

If you do believe that it is a diversion tactic...what does this mean for the "faith-based initiative", which is the major platform for his Republican party?

Well if we apply the Liberal idea that no one is ever to blame for their actions then I guess we should exspect to see Foley as the Democratic Presidential Candidate in 08'.

Jeff S- holy cow I'm am shocked at how ignorant your statement is, Republican are always the one that's take responsibility for their actions, Foley resigned immediately, where as Democrats make excuses and then get re-elected by their party that makes excuses for their actions. Get it right.

As a sexual abuse survivor, I know first hand that by exposing the abuser (priest) it greatly helps the survivor to stop being the victim, to take back control and to end the secrecy associated with the abuse. By exposing the abuser's identity to the public it may help keep the predator from abusing again.

That said, I also think that it may help his defense.

There is no proof as usual from the right. The Neocons should be sued by the Vatican for false reporting, and covering for a pedophile.
