It was our forefathers who thought our ideals were worth dieing for...civil liberties, due process, human rights..Could they be wrong and Republicans be right? Should we live free or die? or is freedom not worth dieing for? how do we repay those heros who died so that we could be free by mocking them and suddenly there deaths are in vain?or is freedom and liberty and justice still worth fighting for? Are all men created equal or are only Americans entitled to justice?

What do you think? Who runs the security level up and down and how many totally false alarms have they had? Six idiots in a warehouse and he scares the hell out of everyone! The AG was out giving a press conference and didn't know a damn thing!

The Republicans want a dictator, and that is basically what we currently have! He thumbs his nose at the law, treaties, Congress and the Constitution! He is a dangerous man in a very dangerous position for us!

Freedom, justice and liberty are worth fighting for, but unfortunately many of us automatically think that the threat is from outside the US! Currently the threat is from within the US! We have a President who meets the definition of a dictator!! We need to get rid of him!! He is currently dismantling the Constitution!

I am not going to live in fear of terrorist's and I damn sure not going to live in fear of a 91 IQ dictator! I think it is sad that people die for business! They should do their own fighting!

Men are not created equal, and never will be while we have 4% controlling 90% of all the money in the US. It used to be only landowners could vote, blacks could not vote and I think it was 1923 that the women got the right to vote iduring WWI and in the 2nd term of Woodrow Wilson, a Democrat!

I guess they might, for years, have interpreted the Constitution literally when the said Men!

I think it is also sad the way we are manipulated into certain views like a bunch of puppets! At least I try and look at what evidence I can find! I don't spout what the party says! It was not always that way. Vietnam was my turning point, and then Nixon, Reagan and Bush! What terrible judge of character we are! We knew Bush was an alcoholic, we knew he was a crook, we knew he was a criminal, and it was pretty apparant he could not even speak English, which I think is a booze problem! How can a person like that get elected? Money, which is the only way a C- Yale graduate gets into Harvard Graduate School of business! See, they even have quota's for the rich!

Quite frankly, I do not believe Bush has given the question much thought. I believe he only knows that America needs protection at essentially any means necessary. As wethear our ideals are sacrificed in the process, the matter seems to be a non-issue to him.

As for the ones that truly advocate sacrificing some freedom in order to gain security, they just view the ideals differently than our forefathers. How much should Americans as a people be willing to sacrifce in order for the sense of security? Or should Americans uphold the virtues of freedom and shine them upon the rest of the world? There will be no absolute right answers but only actions that attempts to prove their worth for either side.

As to honor those who have died in Iraq, it is another question to be struggled with. Are we willing to admit mistakes and pull out before more losses occur? Or we stick it out until the inevitable and hang on the slim hope of coming out victorious? Many have died in vain before, and we will not be the last ones who let good men die in unjustifiable causes. Admitting mistakes, asking for help, and comtemplating alternate course in Iraq are essential for possible grand resolution in Iraq. Unfortunately, Bush administration will not do any of them.

This may come a shock to you, but like John Adams, I believe "No men are created equal, but all men are born with equal rights". If men are created equal, then everyone will be born with the same priviliges, the same physiques and the same thinking patterns. There will be no conflicts in the world. Yet, that is not the case. Until everyone understands this conecpt, there will never be world peace.

wow, great question, too bad you will get some jacked up responses by people who can't understand the depth of this question. I feel there are many answers and many sides to the answers for this question. first of, of course liberty and justice are worth fighting for, but can you call what we are doing in Iraq fighting for liberty and justice? i don't feel that we are (this is just my opinion people, you are welcome to disagree) and therefor the deaths of this war are in vain because they are not what our ancestors died for, they didn't die so that we could have the freedom to oppress other nations and force our influence on the rest of the world. they came here and fought so that we could be free of such oppressions! Bush promotes the idea that we should live free, but uses fear as his tactic of motivation. he talks about freedom, then alters the law so that he has control over what is acceptable for detainees. and he has fallen far short of the "Christian" values he has tried to appear to uphold. a TRUE Christian would follow these values: Do un to others as you would have them do un to you, turn the other cheek, forgive and forget. ... Bush is a shining example of WHY the forefathers created our system to have a SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE! both politics and religion are too easily corruptible, and when you put the two together it is exponentially worse.

Regardless of the figure-head, the USG promotes power over any rights or liberties. Our Forefathers would be rebelling against the pseudo-democracy we call the United States. We jail thieves and druggies longer than child rapists; we write intolerance and bigotry into the laws of the land; and we are in bed with the very people the USG pretends to be at war with. Our Founding Fathers would be ashamed, as their blueprint for Utopia has been corrupted, perverted and disgraced.

Americans died heroicly when we won our independance. Honey, it's been a long time since Mother England thought about coming back to reclaim America.

A couple of yee-ha's got lucky in 2001 and pulled off an antic. There's more people killed in my neighborhood in a year than all of 911. Policicians have been using this as an excuse to gag the media so they can pursue their own greedy agendas while they don't do jack for the public.

Perhaps it seems insensitive of me to minimize this. It's a matter of proportion vs. real threat. The vast majority of the damage was done by our own people who took atvantage of people's fear and ignorance.

That's alot of questions. But of course freedom is worth fighting for. The saying "freedom isn't free" is true. There will always be evil in the world and we have to always be vigilant and ready to defend ourselves. We have not surrendered our ideals nor is Bush or anyone else advocating we do. We do not live in fear but live in an age where we have to be constantly aware of what's going on around us. This can be accomplished without fear of compromising our freedom

Live free or die, with the passage of this new law it has set an awful presidents. We can be dragged from our homes and carted away to a secret prison and held there for an indefinite time, without charges and without access to the court system. Even if this was justified under the current conditions, it has a potential for abuse at any time in the future. I am hoping that the Supreme Court throws it back at the people that would even consider this just.

Bush has placed fear in his own citizens through intimidation. He has controlled the media and created a paranoid culture that is willing to follow him with blind allegiance. Despite this, it has had little impact on affecting the threats from those who live outside the U.S., so in a way, the terrorists have won a battle. We have lost our liberties in the name of justice?

I don't think republicans are as conservative as they used to be, but conservatives tend to care more about the traditions of our forefathers and have a high desire to keep individual freedoms. I find that liberals are willing to give up freedoms in order to make everything equal for all people. That's where "common good" and "share the wealth" ideals come from. Mostly that's socialism, which is opposed to individual freedom.

The worst part of all this is that we are giving up our freedoms in order to protect ourselves from terrorism. I don't like giving up freedom for security, but it seems like we have no choice these days. I wish the world were safer, but as long as evil dictators exist we'll have to fight them to protect our freedoms.

Bush is an idiot. Shame on everyone who voted for him! I wonder what he's going to change next. Two more years? What a mess this country is going to be in when his term is finally over!
