Wow -- you've got a dilemma! First of all, though, I doubt you're alone in this. I bet other co-workers feel the same way, but no one knows how to approach the situation. I would take an informal "survey" of how many people are bothered by the perfume dousing (some people are allergic, others have asthma, and then there are those whose noses just get plain offended by the onslaught :)

Once you have a sense of how big the problem is, I would collectively speak to your manager or person in charge. As such, it is his/her job to take care of a situation that is effecting the workplace. And, as a group, you have more power (as well as more concrete evidence for your wife) to rectify any situation coming your way!

Good luck :)

Your wife should be more trusting anyway.

Complain to your wife about the nasty smelly coworker, and then start leaving little hints at the office.
I dont know why some people need to bathe in perfume, seems like they are hiding something nasty.
a little dab 'll do ya hehe

Are you getting headaches? Sick at your stomach? Missing work? Powerful perfume carriers are horrible to tolerate physically. Tell your wife what is going on and also put in a complaint with management. If she is that narrow minded after you tell her then it will hit her in the end that you were telling the truth. I went through this with my husband and it took years of the office staff complaining of women who wear perfume instead of bathing. Office settings are close or closed doors where air does not circulate and sick building syndrome, etc....Walk around with a portable personal fan....ha ha

Inform your supervisor that you may have allergies or are distracted, or tell the God-honest truth like you just did, and then the supervisor may issue a reminder to all employees regarding perfume and cologne. Most workplaces do not allow perfume/cologne at all or only in smallest amounts.

Is your wife paranoid for some reason?

Ask another female co-worker to talk to her, I'm sure someone is allergic to HER perfume, and ask her to tone it down.

I know when Someone smells of BO or rank perfume/Cologne I have trouble being near them and have often had to put my hand over my mouth just to tolerate it for a moment.

Just how is it gonna get all over YOUR clothes? If you are sincere, she must be told. Just say, "hey, your perfume is too strong. It's so, not sexy that strong. Maybe a little less tomorrow." then just so she doesn't get her feelings hurt, tell her she looks nice today.

tell your wife and have her come in and complain about the smell, and that way your wife knows whats goin on and the co worker gets the hint...sometimes women take the hints better from other women......or you can just tell her,her perfume is givin you a headache or something

The only way it's gonna get all over your clothes is if you're getting all over her in which case your wife should get pissed off.

email or call your wife and mention that abundant perfume as an aside like 'man, you wouldn't believe how much perfume this chick wears...'

but unless you are bumping up against her, the fragrance won't be on you...

Does perfume really get on you just from being around someone who is wearing to much of it? Are you looking for a good excuse and you are trying it out on us????
