I have a 2000 chevy s-10, the flex fuel. I am fairly mechanically inclined, so I'm confedent I can do it if its not tucked away somewhere I can't reach. I don't know where it is, or what kind of sensor I need, or if it is going to be too difficult to do myself...I have a ton of tools, but I don't have a jack or a garage, so I'll have to do it in my driveway, is it possible? Please help me out.

YOUR FLEX FUEL ENGINE HAS BOTH A FRONT (UPSTREAM) AND A REAR (DOWNSTREAM) OXYGEN SENSOR
ALL YOU NEED IS AN O2 SENSOR SOCKET WHICH ACCOMODATES THE WIRES
IT IS AN EASY TASK TO REPLACE AS THEY SCREW OUT AND IN JUST LIKE A SPARK PLUG
THE TOOL IS AVAILABLE FOR A FEW BUCKS AT ANY AUTO PARTS STORE
NOTHING TO IT
THE DOWNSTREAM IS LOCATED AFTER THE CATALYTIC CONVERTOR
THE UPSTREAN CLOSE TO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD

Bank #1 or bank #2 oxygen sensor #1 or the #2 sensor. 7/8" crows foot or special O2 sensor wrench for the really stuck ones. Crack the sensor loose and penetrant oil WD-40 or equal. and if the sensor binds up don't just keep cranking out to dammage all the threads work the sensor back and forth spray plenty of WD-40 to cut the threads back out. So make sure you replace the correct sensor

they are handy to alter out could desire to you do not mind spending in basic terms a sprint time below the automobile. project is, whilst i adjust one I nevertheless get an identical code holiday approximately 2 weeks later, and as quickly as I commerce the two the comparable ingredient happens. pondering the reality that as quickly as the cat. Converters age they won't function one hundred% that's comprehensible, yet i'm too less high priced to flow out and purchase new Cats. So I in simple terms watch the easy click on and rancid approximately as quickly as a week. O2 sensors do their 'ingredient' by utilising utilising counting resistance and if one would not healthful the different the easy clicks on besides the reality that there may be not continuously something unsuitable with the vechicle in any different case.

i own a repair shop, and you can do it,but it takes a special socket to put the new one back on with so it don't break, and the old one may be hard to get off of it,its located down on the exhaust pipe ,and it looks like a spark plug with a wire connected to it,you don't have to worry about saving the old one ,but id think about doing it before i tried it,if you break the new one,it will not work, and you,ll have to buy another one,and labor for changing one of these is only around 20 bucks,so id think it over real good before i decided to do it my self, good luck if you decide to try it, i hope this help,s.
