Depends on what you're looking for.... I've recently enjoyed all the books by Dan Brown (Angels and Demons, Deception Point, Digital Fortress and The Da Vinci Code), Lauren Weisberger (Everyone Worth Knowing and The Devil Wears Prada), Jennifer Weiner (In Her Shoes, Goodnight Nobody, Little Earthquakes and Good In Bed) and Nicholas Sparks (The Guardian, The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, The Wedding, Three Weeks with my Brother, At First Sight, etc.)

I would recommend the following:

1. Orson Scott Card's Enders Game
2. Asimov's Foundation series and his Robot series (loosely tied together)
3. Brian Jacques Redwall series. (the characters are animals placed in humanistic situations)
4. David Pelzer's autobiographical trilogy (it will make you cry!)
5. David Eddings: The Elenium series
6. Raymond E. Feist: Riftwar Saga (one of my all time favorite stories)
7. Roger Zelazny: Chronicles of Amber (A benchmark in sci-fi)
8. For classics: Anything Robert Louis Stevenson and Charles Dickens.
9. For autobiographies: Merle Haggard's Sing Me Back Home and his followup My House Of Memories

and last but not least:

10. Christopher Paolini's Inheritance Trilogy ( I have read Eragon and Eldest, I have not seen the third book yet, but will buy it when it is available.) (He is young but an outstanding writer!)

great books listed above. Try reading the first chapter of some the next time you are in the library or book store.
..for me books are a personal and (sometime) private choice.. kinda like underwear and bras.
..good luck!

Best book I EVER read: A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving.

I read millions of books, and some have come close, but none have topped that one.

Have FUN hunting for your favourite!

Everybody likes "To Kill a Mocking Bird" by Harper Lee, otherwise it depends on what books you have read and enjoyed before. "Rebecca" by Daphne du Maurier is good. I've just finsihed "Rise and Shine" by Anna Quindlen that I thought was brilliant. So is "Echo Park" by Michael Connelly.
