Anything by Terry Pratchett. His books are funny and light, fast reading, but yet profound and brilliant at the same time. Not everyone can pull that off.

The series starts with "The Color of Magic", but since the books don't depend on each other you can start with any of them. My favorites are "Small Gods" or "Witches Abroad."

How old are you? Read any of the classics...like "Through the Looking Glass" (Alice in Wonderland) ...it's enjoyable no matter what age you are.
