For all you who put Galileo, I think you are getting confused. He said the Earth was not the center of the universe, that it rotated around the sun. He also said that he could see satellites rotating around Jupiter. The Inquisition silenced him, and he never said anything else. Pope John Paul II recanted what the Inquisition said, too little, too late.
