Most doctors are licensed by the states they practice in. If you run an internet search for your state's Office of the Professions, you should be able to look the doctor up by name and profession. Once you bring up the doctors license, there should be a link to see if there have been and Professional Medical Conduct.

You can check on the doctor through the Better Business Bureau, that will let you know the number of complaints that have been lodged against the doctor, the number of lawsuits against the doctor, etc. The better business bureau won't be able to tell you about his technique, or his success rate at fertilization. However, check out the doctors own website first, and follow any leads there. If the doctor doesn't have a web site, each state has doctors referral services which can answer a lot of your question. Hope this helps. God Bless.

You can check on his schooling and any specialist degrees if you check with the licensing board in the state where he practices, if you are in the US, or the appropriate licensing board of the country you are in if not the US.

Here is a link to the State licensing boards:

I would also google him...if there have been a lot of people unhappy with his services I think you would find something. Also ask the doctor outright, they are ethically obligated to disclose information which relates to your care. Ask if he has had or in in the process of having professional disciplinary action taken against him, or whatever the information is you want to know.

Find a local fertility support group, the women there will be more than happy to discuss various doctors, who is good and who is not. This may be your best resource.

Good luck.
