What is the best kind of poison I can buy to get rid of them and how often will I hve to buy more? They are mainly in my kitchen and laundry room. How good is Dcon?

Dcon is very good killer. I would also like to tell you about sticky traps. They are very effective and unlike poison, you would not be surprised to find one dead in an embarrassing setting. Any kind of soda will work too. Because of something in it mice do not tolerate it and die. Another suggestion would be to make Sure that you leave nothing out. Chips, rice, cereal, anything like that will attract them. With the cooler weather mice are trying to find a warm home for the winter. Let's hope that it's not yours. I use the sticky traps. I also have small children so that is why poison was not an option for me. Sticky traps come in various sizes and some can be folded so they can get behind tight spaces. Just check them everyday or so and you will find the mice dead, stuck on them. You also mentioned that they were mainly in your kitchen, and laundry areas....mice hate steel wool like the kind that you use to wash dishes. if there are any visible holes that are around pipes etc that wouldn't be a fire hazard unroll the steel wool and place in the hole. this might be where the mice are getting in. Please just remember safety 1st!!

You can use mouse blocks and place behind the fridge, stove, etc. Make sure that it's in the back and not where the mice can kick it out far enough that children or pets can get ahold of it (yep, it's happened to me once and my dog got ahold of it and it costed a fortune in vet bills). Also, I use glue boards as well. You may have to change out quite a bit (depending on the severity of your mouse problem), but it's fast...put them along walls, countertops, pantry, etc (but along the wall part). Time, patience, and cleanliness (I'm clean and it still happens occassionally to me) will solve the problem.

Dcon works well. They eat it and die. It is sopposed to make them dry up without smelling, but the smell will sometimes linger until you find the carcass and get rid of it.

try the glue traps. That way you don't have to worry about the dangers of poisons. We get mice occasionaly and the glue traps always work. We have kids and pets, so I don't like to use poison.

Why don't you get a ferret. They're great at catching rodents. And their scent glands don't really smell as bad as people think. Kind of like a goat. Well, have fun with your new ferret!

I prefer trapping them instead of poison. You can dispose of them after trapping them, but after they die from eating poison, they often decay inside walls & the odor is unbearable.
