I don't think it's that people, don't take the allegations seriously. I know that if they have been made to police they will be investigated. I think the problem with the Heather Mills story is that people see her as a money grabber due to Paul's fortunes. Whether she is or not, I have no idea because like the rest of the country the only things I know about Heather are things which have been reported in the newspapers and the problem with that is:
a) we don't know if they are true or not
b) any event can be reported in more than one way so as to portray people in a different light.
A lot of people slag off Heather and actually know nothing about her. From reading the article you posted it is worth noting that Heather hasn't confirmed if the acts reported are true or not.

I think its obvious why an older man would marry a younger woman isn't it? Don't you think it makes more sense to wonder why a young attractive woman like Heather Mills would have married a man so much older than herself. Well of course when the man in question happens to be universally famous and extremely rich, the answer becomes apparent. Heather Mills is just hitting back at the backlash against her with anything she can think of, clinging on to every last bit of publicity she can get. Unfortunately without any proof of what she is saying she is just digging a deeper hole.

I don't believe that society in general does not take domestic violence seriously, but rather the courts of laws don't. Sentencing for this type of crime is appalling and an insult to the victim. By doing this they are condoning the behaviour and making a statement to the world that says, ' Its OK to beat up a man, or rape a woman '. Because of this, domestic violence is perceived as a minor crime and those who commit it know that their sentence will not be lengthy. It is almost on par with stealing a bar of chocolate. This is also why many victims do not report it to the police, and consequently spend years trapped in a violent relationship.

I agree with Dr Green with the timing point.
Domestic violence is treated seriously, the problem with it is that a lot of time and energy gets put into dealing with the perpetrators of domestic violence but the victims either through fear/love etc then change their minds and take their horror ex's back.
What more can be done? Who knows

because celebs today get married and have a child 2 or more times a year and they could careless of what their ex or the child needs. They just want to be a father/husband/mother/wife to as many people they can then leave there behinds.
Here is an expample of what I mean Kfed aka Mr. Brittney Spears.

These days there's more incidence of the woman beating up the man in domestic violence cases. The men don't want to report it for fear of embarrassment.

I can see your point. But the fact that this was never reported, and have only now came out when it can change how much money she can make. If this did happen did she not take the safety of her child seriously......its the bad timing of coming out with this and i know that women stay with abusive partners and don;t report it.

Its not the story its the timing.
If she had left him at the time it alledgedly happened she may have been believed, but she stayed and increased her settlement windfall by doing so.
Do you honestly believe this is about anything other than money? He doesn't need it all, but she doesn't deserve it!
