Boy, that's a difficult question. The Republican Party is made up of lots of different factions that in many cases disagree radically with each other. Check it out in Wikipedia.

I'm a Libertarian, so I tend to see alot more similarities with those two than I do differences, and I don't really like either party.

But I'd say Democrats seem to lean a little more socialist, and support putting more money into socialist systems, like welfare. Democrats tend to believe in bigger government to try and solve people's problems, often by taxing the rich and businesses more and essentially just "giving" it to the poor in one form or another.

Republicans used to SAY they favor smaller government, but the Bush administration seems to want a bigger government that watches over us all. Republicans also tend to put more emphasis on traditional family values and personal responsibility. I.e., rather than simply giving money to poor people, they favor creating opportunities for the poor to work hard and pull themselves out of their situation.

This is fun. Let me try a few: Democrats believe that the way to equality is to pull the rich down to the level of the poor. Republicans believe that the way to equality is to give the poor the opportunities to become rich Democrats believe that the way to stimulate the economy is for the government to regulate and tax small business Republicans believe the way to stimulate the economy is to get the hell out of the way of small business and let them thrive Democrats believe that taxing the "Millionaires and Billionaires" will fix all of our economic problems Republicans believe that cutting waste and unnecessary spending and balancing the budget will fix most of our economic problems Democrats believe than most people are too stupid and incapable of taking care of themselves, therefore the government has to do it Republicans believe that if given an honest chance most people can not only take care of themselves but can be positive and productive members of society Democrats believe that more government is the solution to all our problems Republicans believe that more freedom is the solution to all our problems Democrats believe that all money is the government's money, and they a gracious enough to let us keep some of it Republicans believe that the money you make is your money, and you should be allowed to keep as much of it as possible Democrats want to rule us by groups (Black, Latino, Gay, Women, etc.) Republicans want govern us as individuals I could go on and on, but i really need to get back to work..

Republicans believe in helping the haves, then maybe it'll trickle down to the have-nots.

Democrats believe that religion and politics should be kept separate, as the Founders intended. Religion is an individual choice that the governmetn should not intrude in. Republicans want to use government as a tool for evangelism.

Democrats like to blame others for there problems, while Republicans take there own hits, and never shy away from what is right. Democrats enjoy looking though a pair of rose colored glasses and never see the truth for what it is.

Republicans have no regard for the poor and middle class, and Democrats do.

Democrats will keep throwing money at the problem at A cost to the taxpayers! Spend, Spend, Spend they do! Waste a lot of taxpayers money. They rarely want to balance the budget. Losers to me.

Republicans are more considerate, money managed people. Don't spend a lot, conservatives.

Harmony, balance and consensual governance do not seem to be shared by either. What these lobbies have in common is what is making the difference..
