If they don't.....they're very lucky.....their lives are much like mine....the little plastic castle is a surprise every time....

As some have already answered, according to science, yes, gold fish have a memory span of just a few seconds. What would be interesting is to know who the scientist was that wrote a convincing enough proposal to get the funding for such a study, and just who put up the money.
