Is it a human baby?
Do you say that a pregnant Cat is carrying kittens or carrying fetus' since 'fetus" is a general word which means "offspring" of any mammal.

It's really just a phase of development, like an infant or toddler. All them are stages of development, but nonetheless human. What woman goes around calling her baby a fetus anyways. You dont say "We're having a fetus" or "The fetus just kicked" How come when you want to be pregnant it's a baby, but when you dont want it it's just a fetus?

Preganay elephants, cats, and humans carry fetus'. The elephant fetus is born into a calf, the cat fetus is born into a kitten, and the human fetus is born into an infant.

fetus is the correct medical terminology, until the baby is born. Even for legal purposes, it is fetus, yes that is a general term, but it is the term used in hospitals and in court rooms, baby refers to the fact child having been born as viable life outside of the womb.

Human baby sounds more appropriate than fetus as fetus is a general term for offspring.I quite agree with u!

Grammatically speaking, human is an adjective. Human beings carry babies. It isn't necessary to say "human baby." A human being could carry no other baby.

to answer your question, none of the above. i really think I am carrying an alien love child as the result of a UFO abduction. my husband thinks its his, so shhhhhh, please don't tell him, dear. he's going to look just like E.T., but that may be a reference ahead of your time.

Depending on the stage of the pregnancy it is a zygote; blastocyst; embryo; fetus. All of them are a baby.
