On a job application how far back in personal history do I need to refer a criminal misdemeanor?

If the misdemeanor was past ten years, it should not come up. Also, unless your applying for a government or federal jobs, regular employment only search for felonies not misdemeanors.

Hi there, i've done a few government applications before and on those they only ask you to go back as far as 10 years. So on any other application, I wouldn't assume it wouldn't be any further than what the government would ask you to do.

I have been told by companies to go back 7 years and one said 10.
