We take chances in life knowing that sometimes you will get hurt. When someone you trust betray that, yes you lose that trust in that particular person, but not in everybody. I would have to forgive them so I can move on, they would be a distant friend, not as close as we use to be. I definitely wouldnt tell them anymore secrets.

betrayal is a red line, and its the end of any relationship,
everything might be accepted except betrayal.

you can't get over things like that very easily. I wouldn't trust her and I would not tell her anymore secrets. You need to forgive when you are ready and not because someone is presuring you to. Just remember if someone does it once they will do it again. It is always easier the second time. Just be on watch and probably get a new friend.

I would confront them and ask them why. Maybe they didn't realize that it meant so much to you. Some people really do not care if what they tell others is repeated.
I would definitely forgive no matter what and I would also try to forget. It would be hard to trust them again, especially if they didn't seem to care that they hurt me. I don't make close friends easily so I could not just write them off unless they were deliberatley mean to me.

I'd never be so daft as to put anybody in a position where they could do such a thing in the first place.
I live in expectation of betrayal.
That way, people can only ever manage to please me no end by not living down to the standards I set for them as far as that goes...

if it truly was a mistake and they weren't telling it to put you down behind your back- forgive but don't forget- make her earn your trust back before you share. The only way I would write off this friend is if she just did it to drawl attention to herself by putting you down, that shows a neediness for attention and she wont get over that instantly. forgive and forget is one of the worst sayings...the word forgive-makes it obvious someone did something wrong to you-and forgetting about it would make you vulnerable. If someone breaks trust-you'd be a fool to just sweep it under the rug.

It would depend on how it happened and how the person handled it. I'd think about forgiving IF the disclosure was accidental and IF they were really apologetic.
But on some level, you never forget things like that. If someone does it once, they'll probably do it again.
