I would get her to practice using the sippy cup before you leave. Maybe she'll take to it before you leave. (At this age, she should be drinking out of a sippy cup by now!) During take off, you might have her sucking on a lolly. During the flight, you might want to make a game out of yawning. This will help the pressure equalize in mid-flight. After the flight, give her something to chew on to help the pressure equalize.

Sounds like she was weaned early - do you let her suck a thumb or fingers? Perhaps a teething toy, the chewing/sucking may relieve the pressure. Then of course there is always a pacifier. If all else fails there is baby massage: http://www.makewayforbaby.com/massages.htm. If she is still uncomfortable once you get to your lodgings try a warm damp cloth (test on the wrist so it's not too hot) wrap up the front of her neck and be sure it reaches her ears, hold for about 3 minutes at a time the warmth can help relieve the pressure.
There is also the possibility she'll have no trouble at all - I have 3 kids and only 1 was ever bothered by the cabin pressure as a little one. Good Luck!

Maybe it's time to introduce the sippy cup. Why is it out of the question? She has to learn at some point. I wouldn't panic about it. The ear pressure isn't always that bad. Will she take a pacifier?

edwhy don't you try her to the store and let her pick out her own sippy cup, you should of introduce the sippy cup at 6 months to make the transition easier, just give her some medicine and let her pass out. The sippy cup is not out of the question your baby needs to independent when is coming to drinking by herself. your baby could be malnutritioned

Is she breast fed? Its not natural for a child to have no suck reflex and survive. Ive never had a child that couldnt pick up the use of a sippy cup by 8 months.

Maybe you should take her in and have the doctor check her, that just doesnt sound right.

My ultimate suggestion from my adventure is to return and forth at evening whilst your newborn is drowsing. We moved whilst my son replaced into 13 months previous and had a 12 hourchronic forward persons. he's extremely impatient in the vehicle, and the only way that i did no longer experience accountable conserving him in the carseat replaced into if he replaced into satisfied and drowsing. whilst he did no longer sleep for the completed experience, it particular took a great bite out of the trip with him asleep. different than that, we had a transportable DVD participant and performed toddler einstein video clips for him. whilst he could get under pressure, we would take breaks many times. My husband and that i additionally took turns sitting in the decrease back with him to help entertain him.
