When they say things like that, they basically mean, they don't want you anymore, but if things don't work out for THEM in the future, meaning with other girls, they'll will always come back to you and when a guy says that. I'd say, ditch him don't worry and find someone else thats right for you.

Walk away and have some dignity. When a guy says this he really means "he just does want to be friends". And having him as a friend isn't so bad is it?

That means he's feeling pretty good about himself and the ego's gone through the roof. If you are hoping he'll come around to his senses, forget it.
