I tried to drag and drop from the hard drive over to the d: drive. The burn was not successful. When I went back to the folder where the pics are, all I can see is the MS Picture Manager logo and the picture will not open. I now have a "thumbs" icon that was not there before. Does anyone know how I can restore these pics or are they gone forever?

I doubt that they are lost. Did you look in the recycle bin? You could try doing a search. Type in the name of one of the images and then search. Right click on the start button, then click search. Type in the name & then choose the drive you want to search. Good luck!

The Thumbs.db file stores a single 48x48 bitmap that is used instead of the default folder icon, when Windows Explorer view mode is set-to Thumbnails.

Its doesnot contain your pictures, and you cannot recover anything from it.
