My guards tend to get a little grumpy if I don't let them stand down occasionally. I've found that if I let them have every 3rd Tuesday of the month off they are much happier.

only a bit when im around people i know i can trust and have know for a long time...and i bit when im with faily or alone. i never let it fully down.
