are you talking American people, or people in general? Also are you taking into account population differences?
If you are talking about just Americans killed in Iraq and Afghanistan compared to Americans killed by local criminals, then yes. If you are talking about people in general and not adjusting for population differences, it draws even to a bit less. If you adjust for population (per capita killings), then America isn't even close to the violence seen overseas.
I.E
looking just at American casualties yesterday (today?). 10 soldiers out of 140,000ish were killed (one incident, I don't know if that is the total for the day) - .7%
Using the stats above, 40 killings a day out of 300 million - .001%

Doonsbury has been doing cartoons with a similar argument, more people killed buy guns and auto accidents than terrorists (using 3,000 deaths in the US from 9/11), but not so much effort banning guns or making cars safer.

Close, but not quite recently.
Seems there are about 40 or so a day in the US.
Still sad though
Depending on whose numbers you believe, there are an average of 53 a day in Iraq.
However, there is ten times the population in the US. So as far as percentage it is a much lower rate in the US.

Yes, even more so, in 1 year, the streets of our cities have lost triple the total casualties of soldiers since the inception of the war.
Thank you gang members.....
