I think we might have been married to the same guy...lol.Been there myself. If you have support ordered through domestic relations,or whatever it is called in your state, they are responsible to go after him for the money.Call them and bug them EVERYDAY,they will get sick of hearing from you and finally do something about it.It doesn't matter if he works or not,he is still responsible for the child support and they should tell him this.Mine spent some lovely down time in jail for not paying.Don't waste your money on a lawyer,go through DR,it is their job to get the money for you.

There is a agency called support kids, it's like child support but they can actually go into his bank accounts and start freezing assets so that you can get the money owed to you. The only thing is they charge 30% of whatever you might get. As far as the taxes go he can't not file forever, Uncle Sam will get him sooner or later and when he does you will get yours. I just hope it doesn't take too long of a time.

Someone suggested getting a good lawyer. Save your money. You can get the WORST, CHEAPEST, lawyer in town and you will win. The law is NEVER on the father's side. This I know. You will win and you will win big. Now actually collecting is a different story. He can and WILL be jailed for failure to pay if thecourts are involved. I think he'd rather get a job and pay you than be "bubba's" wife for a few years.

Get a lawyer the lawyer wil get him in front a judge who is not going to be very sympathetic with his BS. he will be ordered to find work and pay. If he defies court orders long enough they can jail him. If he flees the state it can get tough to get inforcement.

Some guys act like this only until they are dragged in front of judge or do some jail time.

Get started- the sooner the better!

Report him to the IRS, call child welfare. But if he has been working under the table there is not alot they can do. My daughter has this problem with an X, been 5 years and I think he paid 25 bucks on over 15000 in behind payments.

YOU HAVE VERY LITTLE RECOURSE. YOU CAN HAVE HIM TAKEN BACK TO FAMILY COURT TO ANSWER TO THE JUDGE WHY HE HASN'T PAID OR WORKED IN THE TIME SINCE THE JUDGEMENT WAS MADE AGAINST HIM. THE JUDGE WILL HAVE TO ISSUE SOME TYPE OF PENALTY. BUT IF HE IS DESTITUDE
THE SUPPORT ORDER MAY BE LOWERED. YOU HAVE TO PUSH FOR THE PUNISHMENT. THE ONLY TIME THE STATE LOOKS FOR HIM OR TRYS TO PENALIZE HIM IS IF THE MOTHER IS ON PUBLIC ASSISTANCE. THE STATE WILL TRY TO BE RECOMPENSATED BY THE FATHER. GOOD LUCK

Start by consulting a local women's center if you can find one. They can give you advice or referrals, maybe even direct you to a free legal aid society. Your children are entitled to their support from this deadbeat. The IRS would be interested, too. Maybe they have a whistle-blower hotline. Check it out.

Contact your attorney general. If he is employeed (regardless of taxes) you can likely have his wages garnished. Additionally, your state may allow the suspension of licenses (including drivers). Also... you may be able to sue, get a judgment, and file a lien on any property he owns.
