If it's from one address, block it.

Unfortunately, that does not work most of the time. And unsubscribing can, in fact, make it worse. That way, bots get a response and know that it's a real email address.

They have bots that just send emails to random addresses, hoping that one will be real and actually be interested.

I use hotmail, and I just set my inbox to exclusive. That means that you have to be on a special list to make it to my regular inbox, and the rest of the stuff goes to junk mail. I did that seven years ago, and I don't get a lot of spam anymore because I just delete it instead of responding to it. And junk mail folders usually make it easy to delete in bulk.

If you cannot do that or need a totally clean mailbox, the only real surefire way I know is to get a brand new email address, and then NEVER give it to anyone you don't know. Don't use it on forms of any site that you even remotely lack trust in, and only give it to friends and relatives. Then, if you delete the few that you'll likely get from random bots instead of trying to unsubscribe, you are most likely to be clean.

Unfortunately, everyone I know eventually has the problem again. Many regularly switch email addresses, and I told you what I did with the filters.

Good luck.

Most email providers (yahoo, gmail, hotmail, etc..) have an option for marking a message as spam. Just check this option and they will be sent to your bulk mail in the future. Avoid "unsubscribing" from the spam, which is usually and option located on the bottom of the spam message. This will let the spammer know that your email is valid.
