A POSER is a person who wants people to think they are what they project but really they are the opposite

example: some one who wears diamonds and acts like they are made of money when really the diamonds are fake and the person is just getting by!

OH AND YES YOUR RIGHT

A poser is someone who tries to look like something rather than actually being that. For example, the first context I was aware of the term being used was in the '80s in skateboarding. Powers were those individuals that were not good at skateboarding, but they had all the hottest clothes, the tricked out skateboard, and they talked like they were a champion. They wouldn't, however, actually show you what they claimed they could do because they couldn't do much. A more current example is the kids who get something like a Honda Civic and then put a noisy muffler and a bunch of body panels on it to make it look like a "tuner" car, but never do any work to the engine itself, so it's basically a stock Civic that looks like a race car. And they will "talk the talk", but never actually do any serious racing. In short, posers are fakes and frauds who try to look impressive but really aren't. Most of them know that they are not real, they just hope you and I don't realize it.

A poseur or poser is a person who adopts the dress, speech, and/or mannerisms of a particular group or subculture, generally for attaining acceptability within the group. A poseur may not share or understand underpinnings of the group he or she is trying to identify with. Some subcultures may view what they regard as poseurs with varying degrees of mistrust and scorn.
also:
is a person who likes to imitate, or even wishes to be, another, but is cannot achieve it due to physical, political, religious, or mental limitations.

Like someone who spends all this money on, say, skating accessories, the right clothes, the shoes, etc. but doesn't even know how to skate, just anyone who tries to be something they're not, in the hopes of looking cool.
