Deepavali is celebrated for five consecutive days in the Hindu month of Ashwayuja. It usually occurs in October/November, and is one of the most popular and eagerly awaited festivals of India. Hindus, Jains and Sikhs alike regard it as a celebration of life and use the occasion to strengthen family and social relationships. For Jains it is one of the most important festivals, and beginning of the Jain year. It is also a significant festival for the Sikh faith.

Narak chaturdashi or Choti Diwali
Diwali or Deepawali

Diwali is celebrated to bring good neighbourhood in a multi racial, linguistic, religious society. Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and all communities make sweets at home during the festival and share amongst all to drive home a point that everyone born equal in the world and one should always bring happiness in ones life.

Buy sweets clothes etc and give gifts to nears and dears.And worship the goddess Lakshmi (Goddess of wealth) to make her happy and shower blessings in the shape of wealth.
