I am afraid that kids of today do not watch TV! They play computer games and such. So they put the crap on as the people they are paying don't earn much!

No programmes like we used to watch back in the late 70's early 80's when we had some really good TV programmes! We even had Watch with Mother, not many mum's around today to watch TV with the little ones they are either working or too busy do their own stuff to sit and enjoy a kids programme with the little ones! My mum used to enjoy sitting down watching Andy Pandy or The Wooden Tops with us!

Oh for those good old days with all the good shows!

Yeah I kind of agree with you on this one, I was a kid in the seventies and the kids shows were eccentric and imaginative, all the shows today push early education (Dora - Spanish, Bob the Builder - ecology, tweenies - getting along with others etc) I mean they are all worthwhile lessons but hey let kids be kids, be silly i.e. The Clangers, Chorlton and the wheelies, banana splits etc there was also no marketing involved.

My kids pretty much stick with the basics. They like Scooby-Doo, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and the Power Rangers and things like that. Neither of them was ever interested in the Teletubbies, I mean let's face it, they're really creepy. They still like Bugs Bunny and all the other Acme characters. I'll tell you what needs to come off TV, those damn Wiggles. Four grown men running around in tight pants singing and playing miniature instruments to lure little kids in, now that some sick sh_t! Fruit salad my _ss!

All of that does not bother me as much as the hypnotic effect telivision has on children. TV does not promote activity of any kind. The total lack of physical or mental stimulation is turning our kids into zombies. These kids become adults with no ability to perform even moderate physical activities much less have an original thought.

I do totally agree with you.
I look at some of the little kiddie programs that are on nowadays and they just seem so degrading. I know little kids don't understand about that, but really, they're so patronising sometimes, like the writers have just assumed that anyone who watches them can't even talk yet, when really they're probably just learning to talk.

It would be better for the kids to junk the tv. But its not something that anyone is likely to do. The argument can be made that raising children in the world we live in is a bad idea. I agree with that argument.

I agree. I watch some of these programmes with my nephew and rather than interact with them, he just stares and loses interest after five minutes. I remember Andy Pandy on strings and Basil brush!! Seriously though, when my finace and start having kids, what the heck are they going to be watching????

Yes, I agree with you. I also hate the fact that presenters do not speak correctly these days. No wonder many children speak English so badly.
