A totally new vehicle, it is a different offering, being much bigger, roomier and safer than its predecessor. Developed by Italdesign-Giugiaro together with the Fiat Centro Stile, the styling of the Grande Punto is modern, elegant and distinctly ‘Italian’, whilst the interior is a welcoming but functional.
Safety is a high priority with up to seven airbags (front, side, window and drivers knee) can be specified whilst three point seatbelts with pre-tensioners and load limiters, five head restraints and a fire protection system are standard. Whilst on the road features as ABS with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), ESP, Hill Holder, ASR (traction control) and MSR (prevents wheels locking when changing down) will also be available.
At launch, a choice of two petrol and two diesel engines will be available. A 1.2 8v unit with 65bhp and a 1.4 8v with 77bhp mated to 5 speed transmissions. On the diesel front the new Grande Punto will have the 1.3 and 1.9 MultiJet units already in the Fiat range. These will be mated to 6 speed gearboxes where shifting is via cable operation, with hydraulic clutch actuation.

Awesome car, though I thought that it was a tad wimpy looking for all its 130hp.
Hopefully it will Re-Make a very very good company, which is fighting a losing price war with the Koreans.
