To Travis W and Judith R:
Iraq never asked women to wear burkas.. you've confused them with the Talibans in Afghanistan.

Speaking of Saddam, who gave Saddam support and military aid when he once needed it? United States! (Donald Rumsfeld and Saddam were buddies). Come on, the US is very well known for supporting a nation when they know they can benefit from the situation. They even helped Iraq during their war with Iran.

Why should almost 700,000 civilians die because of Saddam who allegedly possesed Weapons of mass destruction and linked with the Al Qaeda? Now where are the WMDS, and where are the links with Al Qaeda? The war is STILL not justified till this day.

Iraqis need to regain their strength as a nation and not let religious differences get in the way. The war may be over, but there are still many battles to fight.

In simplistic terms, the powerful centralized government has been toppled and the US, as powerful as it is, is led by a bunch of weak ignorami who have no cultural education. There have been so many mistakes made due to cultural ignorance which have caused the death of countless innocents and the US is finally starting to examine its own stupidity.

In the meantime, with the absence of strong leadership, each faction within the Iraqi civilization is playing one-upmanship at the cost of human lives.

Iraq is not weak, it is non-existent at this point. I call on the Iraqis to stop the in-fighting and band together against further violence and occupation through the use of diplomacy, not weapons.

Well, I think a functional representative democracy is a good start.

Driving out the insurgents that are trying to install a system based on religious zealotry is also a good move.

Allowing your women to be educated rather than huddling under burkas generally terrified to do anything significant for fear of harsh reprisals would also be a good move. Remember, the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world!

When you allowed Sadam to torture and murder non Muslims, and the Kurds and when you invaded Kuwait for oil, Allah took offense with you. Iraq never was the centre of acknowledgment and study. You were just told that by your clerics who did what the government told them.
