How to spot a baby conservative
KID POLITICS | Whiny children, claims a new study, tend to grow up rigid and traditional. Future liberals, on the other hand ...

KURT KLEINER
SPECIAL TO THE STAR
Remember the whiny, insecure kid in nursery school, the one who always thought everyone was out to get him, and was always running to the teacher with complaints?
Chances are he grew up to be a conservative.
The confident, resilient, self-reliant kids mostly grew up to be liberals.
The study from the Journal of Research Into Personality isn't going to make the UC Berkeley professor who published it any friends on the right. Similar conclusions a few years ago from another academic saw him excoriated on right-wing blogs, and even led to a Congressional investigation into his research funding.
Similarly, in 2003 John T. Jost of Stanford and colleagues reviewed 44 years worth of studies into the psychology of conservatism, and concluded that people who are dogmatic, fearful, intolerant of ambiguity and uncertainty, and who crave order and structure are more likely to gravitate to conservatism.

They are not YOUR terms, and the fact that you consider Savage an authoritative source only supports the studies' findings.

Eisenhower also was the one who warned America about the Military-Industrial Complex. The Bush administration is what he was talking about. Eisenhower was too smart to be a Republican in 2006.

I don't think they're born. But they're conditioned to be resentful, pusillanimous, and mean-spirited by overly harsh parenting.

Yeah, I'm calling BS on that "study." Most of the whiny kids I knew turned liberal. The strong ones are conservative. There are exceptions on both sides, of course.
I was not whiny, or insecure. I was a good kid, who excelled in school until I got in with a bad crowd in high school.
I am a moderate conservative.
My whole immediate family is extremely conservative. Even my Democratic aunts, uncles and cousins are extremely conservative. My family is far from whiny or insecure, and we're not rich, either.

Eisenhower once quoted "The Cost of Liberty is Eternal Vigilance" what is it that you don't understand. get a clue and quit whing and show some common sense instead of some quack liberal study

Conservatives don't believe in progress because that would compromise their religion/the Bible and their traditional values. If conservatives had it their way America and time would have stopped and stayed in the 1950s. If you don't allow yourself to learn new ideas, to progress, how can you possibly increase your intelligence? You can only read the Bible so many times before you realize that can't squeeze water from the stone and then all conservatives are left with is to bash liberals who actually want to learn new things which eventually makes them much more intelligent and that drives conservatives crazy.

They are born just like normal people. It is the upbringing and the years of hate-training they endure that makes them what they are. This hatred combined with greed is then stuck to them for life. They cannot be retrained to function normally anymore and are sentences to live out their remaining days torn internally between what they have to believe in and what they know is the truth.
