I'm looking to get a new MP3 player and wanted some advice on what to get. For various reasons I don't want to get an i-pod so please don't suggest that. I want at least 6gb of memory, preferably more but not essential. I also want a decent (15 hrs+) battery life, and something that looks cool. What would you recommend? If you own the mp3 player you reccommend, what are the good and bad points of it? P.S I've had a Sony one-shocking reliability and heard a few other stories saying the same so i'd like to avoid them if poss!)

I can't give you any advice from direct experience because I've only had iPods (I currently own 2), but I recommend going to this site for reviews on different players. They also have feedback from users that can be useful too....

Okay, I kind of understand that not everyone out there is an iPod fanboy like me. Some people would actually prefer buying a different portable media player. Fine, I'll cave and help you non-Apple lover out with a list of the top five iPod alternatives. This list was compiled by T3 and it is pretty spot on, for the most part.

US2.jpgComing in at numero uno on T3's list is the Meizu miniPlayer, followed by the Creative Zen V Plus, iRiver T10, Sony Ericsson V630i and lastly the mobiBLU US2. From looks alone I would have liked to see the US2 higher up on the list and maybe swap out the Sony Ericsson V630i with the more U.S. friendly Sony NW-E505. I'd suggest going with one of these, only if you absolutely hate Apple, because they are obviously top dog.

In creative.com you can see and choose all there different mp3. They all have voice recorder/fm/save documents. There cheaper than ipods, have more GB and they're very good quality. The guarantee from creative is really good. The have a decent hour battery (12 hrs). Check the page. Go to the music players section and you can see all the prices depending your budget.Hope it helps!! I have one and they're great!

not an iPod for sure, it's paying for name recognition. I also don't think you're going to get 15 hours of battery life in anything (are you talking about continuous play or just total per day?), I have a Creative Zen Micro and it's only about 12 hours on battery (continuous play), but it really depends on how much memory you're looking for

I would go with something from either Creative of Iriver.
I owned a creative labs nomad jukebox zen xtra (not as catchy as an Ipod, is it?) for two years, and it works wonders. I now own a microphoto, and the thing is great. although it is a little tough to navigate through the menus quickly. and you cant listen to music and look at photos. I have used the Vision:M's and they kick ***.

Creative defiantly! Great sound, and wicked battery live.

I bought a Zen Nano V. But they might not have enough memory for you. Otherwise go for a Zen Vision W. Or M.

I've been checking out MP3 players myself. I've decided to get the Zen vision, seems to be the best one out at the moment.

Ipods are great :P but why don't you try looking for MP4 player on ebay. They are fliddling to use, as in menu not as great, but they cost fraction of an ipod and it does more. RADIO! video, picture storage etc.
