Simple really.
If they were taken to America, they would be subject to American law.
Torture would not be allowed and they would have to be charged with a crime and not held indefinitely without access to legal representation.
As the US govt has no evidence against these people (if they did,why not charge them) then by keeping them "offshore" they can do what they want to them and not have to worry about the law.
You will note that in this case the US govt. has also refused to apply the Genva Covention.

No it's not a civilised way to behave - it's a licence to torture.
If you ask me America has lost the war on terror.

Guantanamo Bay in Cuba has been described as "an anomaly" by Tony Blair and it is. It's been chosen so the Americans can get away with unlawful detention and torture outside of the laws of the U.S. It's a very dirty business.

The camps you are referring to are concentration camps, the Americans are no better than the Nazis. America can no longer be taken seriously when it commits war crimes and atrocities.

Well, they did save some money not transporting them here & back...I believe it is called "in the field" work. Besides, unless it is an embassy, they don't have to hold to US laws...sneaky huh??
