I have been a volunteer coordinator (unpaid) and it never took up my entire day.
Have you considered managing your time better and fitting in some education in the afternoon/evening? Loving your job is great and getting paid to coordinate volunteers is Rare! But putting your skills/experience to work for you should be a high priority. Look into something with the same school district that pays more and has more responsibility.
At your age, you will be at a great disadvantage against other twentysomethings, because you aren't pursuing any type of higher education. Even one course per semester is better than just working at a low paying job.
Stay in the education field but get some college under your belt.
Good luck...

well sometimes the sacrifices and decisions we make early in life shape who we are and who we become later in life, so make sure you think it through very carefully. If in a few years you cant see yourself making more than the amount your making now, and in public school system I doubt it, then you need to make ends meet and you dont have a lot of choices. You can *STILL* make a difference in these kids lives. Continue to volunteer in the days and help out, for free, even if it is only one or two days a week, and work in the evenings or on the weekends as well, and then you should be able to still be around the kids and help out in that feild, doing what you love. Or, you can keep doing what you are doing, and just cut corners everywhere you can, and remember: Once you find a job doing what you love, you will never work another day in your life, :) GOOD LUCK! BOTTOM LINE: MONEY DOESNT ALWAYS BUY HAPPINESS!!! Talk to all around you, ask if there are any weekend part time jobs you can do, or even if you can babysit or housesit for some extra cash. I even did something similiar to you, and ended up tutoring for the kids who were the most troublesome and earned cash that way, and the parents LOVED it, because I already had an established relationship with their child and was able to really help them and make a difference with them and the work in the class! TRY IT! talk to the parents of the kids and see if anyone is interested!

You are just 20 and you said half of what you make goes toward furthering your education. Well what do you want to do the rest of your life. Have you decided on a career? If you have stick with this job until you get enought to pay for your school and then go to school and they may work with you while you are in school since they are paying for you school Mauny companies do this. That way you will have your education without a huge studen loan like most of us have.If you like what you are doing keep it up. cut back on other things to make ends meet.

Can you get a raise?
If you truly love you job and don't want to quit, you need to find some ways to make some more money. You can pet sit, baby sit, sell on Ebay, maybe even get a part-time job at a store for the holiday season, etc ...

Think very carefully before quitting your job. I just recently had to look for another job, and I found it very difficult to find companies that offer good benefits. I had excellent benefits at a company I had quit from because the pay wasn't that great and they were moving about 30 minutes from my home. I have since learned that it just might have been worth staying at due to the excellent benefits I had through them!

There are other ways you can help people. Advancing your education is a no-brainer because once you have it, no-one can take it away. You need money to live and I'm sure you will find another job that is fulfilling but pays more.

yes, it sounds tough but sooner or later, you are going to crack with all this stress and pressure with time and money issues. So i say for a change, put yourself forward, and take some time off to relax and recharge. But if you can't do that, consider changing jobs, a job less demanding. after working for that program for a certain time. Like perhaps after a year or two.
We change so many careers in our lifetimes and this should be one of your changes.

Try going to college on-line, a lot of universities have on-line classes. Start there and see what happens. If you have to go to a "class" ask you boss if you can have a couple hours to go. Always remember, "It never hurts to ask, the worse thing anyone can say is no."
