If you breastfeed then it is possible not to have a period for a year. If you are not breastfeeding don't sweat it. The average is 2 to 3 months but lots of women have gone longer than that without starting their period. It all depends on how long it takes your body to recover and begin normal activity again. I didn't have a period for six and a half months after my second child was born. Just don't stress over it and it will come. In the meantime enjoy the break your body is giving you.

If you are nursing your baby this delays menstruation. If you are not it could be that there is an imbalance in your hormones. If it is the latter, I would see you gynecologist and have a blood test to determine what is out of balance. Sometimes after delivery, the pituitary gland that regulates hormones gets out of whack. It could also effect your thyroid. It is a simple blood test. Hope this helps, Good luck.

Incredibly good luck? Are you nursing? Sometimes that can cause delayed menstruation.

Occassionally some women do not ovulate again until they have finished breastfeeding. Or you could be pregnant.
