my husband and i were having this discussion the other night. i am american indian and he isn't. he kept saying things like 'when our for fathers' and i was like 'what the hell are you talking about? i'm not white! no anglo here! your for fathers raped and pillaged our people and land. i've grown up with these stories (gramma and grampa were small children then) of horror and fright.'
my grandparents didn't even get social security because there was no record of being born. grampa had to work for cash his whole life (paid in cash or gambling) and gramma only worked for 2 weeks (outside the home)

I think the big hype is not deporting people back. The problem is that the whites are being held accountable for things that were done hundreds of years ago. The Europeans were pompous and self-righteous. They thought their way of life was the only way. They were wrong and stupid. But, that's over and now we live here too and can't uproot to give back the stolen lands. We are now all children of these lands and we have to learn to play nice. There are still plenty of stupid white people out there who contribute to the problem, and there are just as many stupid people of color contributing to the problem as well. If people in general weren't so pigheaded in their beliefs, especially when it comes to past instances, then we could compromise and live in peace.

Illegal immigrants should be deported back to where they come from, but of course it is rude to say this to somebody if you don't know 100% sure this person is an illegal immigrant.

We should all be proud of our ancestors, no matter Irish, Cherokee, African american or Chippawa. Your ancestors did great things and built up a culture of their own, they should not be forgotten. So I think nobody should say "chippawa omg", it is absolutely fine to be who you are.

My tribe is Irish and my ancestors are from the west coast there. I was born and raised in Nebraska, so I do feel at home here. I just hope you guys don't send me back to where my ancestors came from.

it is a bit stupid that Americans talk about deporting people to where they came from when the vast majority are immigrants themselves.
