=This is pretty basic and you should have no trouble writing your paper. There are all kinds of resources on the Internet if you just spend a while researching.
Emotional intelligence is the innate potential to feel, use, communicate, recognize, remember, learn from, manage and understand emotions.
Good luck on your paper!

The best source on this is Daniel Goleman, however he attributes part of the idea to Howard Gardner (multiple intelligence guru).

The main idea is that if you have strong intrapersonal intelligence (not just knowing the self but being self assured about it and handling emotion in a healthy way) and if you have strong interpersonal intelligence (you have strong empathy skills, can communicate well with other people, read their emotion, and perhaps even lift their mood) You have what you will be more successful.

I would look at Emotional Intelligence: Why it can Matter more than IQ by Goleman.

It's interesting reading but I would read it by topics and not straight through. Good luck.

Since emotional energy is of the MIND, and intelligence has to do with the brain, and these are two entirely different things, I would suspect the concept is the brain child of some psychologist who, like most psychologists "think" that the brain can do anything... as long as one can apply some abstract label to what it is one "THINKS" one knows.

The phrase is an oxymoron, which means that one is mixing apples and oranges. Perhaps E.Q. is similar to R.G.? R.G. means Really Gullible.

Peace

Simply put...

IQ is how (good, fast) you understand stuff / objects /things
EQ is how (good, fast) you understand self, and how you handle things related to emotion.
