First 2 babies were induced at 42 weeks gestation. Stubborn babies!

I went in at 7am and had each of them around 6pm. It was a long, exhausting day in the hospital. They hooked me up to IV and pushed the potosin to induce contractions. After a few little ones and a few long hours they broke my water and increased the dosage. I was bored and in bed for way too long! After increasing the dosage I was able to walk around as that helps bring the contractions on quicker and stronger. Walking around 1 floor of a hospital dragging and IV and stopping every few minutes to contract was horrible. Once they got pretty strong and close I was put back in the bed to suffer. I could not get comfortable and the contractions got closer and closer until finally I was wheeled to delivery to push. By this time I was exhausted.
I did not have pain relief for any of my 5 births and don't regret it. I do regret being induced though. My 3rd, 4th and 5th came on their own and were born at home. I was in control of the contractions and could move about and do what I wanted throughout early labour which made a world of difference. Of course sleeping with baby in my own bed in my own home afterword was the best part!

I can only tell you what I went through. My blood pressure was terribly high, so I got induced. The first few hours were easy while my cervix was being softened. Then, when the doctor broke my water and put a moniter on the baby's head, well, that wasn't easy. Then the actual labor was started and it hurt. It took me 24 hours and he was my 4th!!!! The doctor told me it would take a long time and would be painful. I had to have the epidural cut off cause I needed to hurry up and deliver.
I hope you can enjoy pain relief and have a better labor than I did. Good luck and GOD bless.

When I had my first child, my water broke on its own, but labor didn't progress without being induced. I was given the meds (can't rememeber the name) for a full day. I began having contractions but I couldn't feel them at all. After a full day with nothing really happening, I was taken off the meds and allowed to eat (thank goodness). Then next day the routine started all over again and around 3 o'clock I began to feel the most agonizing pain I had every felt. That pain went on for 5 hours before my body was ready to deliver and able to get a "block".

All in all I was in labor for 34 hours.

If you mean by Pitocin (sp), it is quite unpleasant. I have had 2 babies, both without any pain medication, 1 was induced and 1 wasn't. The pitocin makes your contractions come on quicker and stronger. It doesn't feel like a natural progression. If there are any other options, I would strongly suggest you look into them.

I had my labor induced because i was two weeks late. Once they break the water the pain starts. It is minamal at first but then it hits hard. The good thing is that you know its coming and your prepared. Good luck with your new litlle one

With my first induction my contractions became unbearably strong so that I took an epidural and after that the contractions were off the charts. With my second induction I was worried I'd have contractions off the charts so I took the epiduarl again but my contractions basically didn't go over the half-way marker even when I was delivering.

dont do it if you dont have to, makes labor pains more intense, harder and stronger. due to the fact your labor wasnt brought on naturally.

I found it more painful that when I had a natural delivery, just more intense, but everyone is different.

it comes all at once. nothing then everthing. you get a few medium contractions before it hits, but thats it. but the quicker it comes, the faster its done!
