Saw that in Hillbrow in '89. Movies had just been integrated, and it was ironically the first flick I saw with black people in the theater.

Of all the anti-apartheid movies, this had to be the most idiotic. I had a black dude sitting behind me, and he couldn't stop laughing, along with the rest of the mixed audience.

Made me realise how American Indians must have felt sitting through all those early Westerns.

glynis18 - I agree. People's dislike of South Africans because of our supposed prejudice, display their own prejudice with that one-dimensional attitude.

Ooh I haven't seen it, not really into Lethal Weapon, but I might take it out this weekend, just for a laugh!

Also wanted to add: People have such a limited view of what South Africans are like. For example, that song "I've never met a nice South African" by Spitting Image. People who I have met, who have met other South Africans, can't believe that I am South African. They say that my accent is more "British" -whatever that means! They meet the South Africans who give us all a bad name, and therefore base their opinion on that!

I do! But I'm gonna have to disagree on one thing and that is that it was a great action movie. Then again....

I remember them 'South Africans' using some foul language as well. The accents just wasn't believable. Why wasn't any real South Africans used in the production? I guess it must have been because of the political turmoil South Africa faced then. But still. This was a sequel to a great movie and I would have thought that Warner Brothers could have come up with some actors that could at least speak the language.

Even the girl that worked for the Embassy wasn't at all believable. And I'm speaking under correction now, but was'nt she supposed to be South African? Or was she Dutch? Can't remember. I think a South African girl could have pulled it off better.

When I first saw it in 1989, I got all wound up when I saw Kruger Rands falling out of the trunk of the car. I thought that there was gonna be some South African influence. But there was more South African influence in 'Sheena, Queen of the Jungle' than this movie!

The movie was funny for more reasons than we expected. Joe Pesci is one of my favorite actors of all time and he was funny, but the 'South African actors' were even funnier when they said the "k" word!

Your diplomatic immunity.........has been revoked!

The accents were terrible, but behind the scenes that is what was actually happening in this country, don't forget the truth and reconciliation commision how the dutchies were falling all over themselves pointing the finger at one another, they were cruel buggers a bunch of fu*king inbreds we are now paying for their sins too late to cry just tough it out and things will get better.

Ag nee, I know I've seen it, but I can't remember what it's all about.

But I do remember a movie Charlise Theron played in speaking Afrikaans, something like SEVEN MINUTES or something, and hearing Afrikaans in a movie shocked the hell out of me.

It really sounds funny!

Cool question!

Watched it with my European boyfriend.
I got excited at the concept of "Afrikaners" in the movie, but in the end they sucked.
But then again watched "Die Hard" and many other movies with Germans in, with my mother, and she always laughs her head off at the bad accents!
Old Hollywood really bunged up on some movies.
