Being afraid of the light may signify our fears of letting ourselves to be revealed due to possesstion of a bad inner self or a dark secret.
It's worse to be afraid of the light.
Being afraid of the dark means a fear of the unknown and as precaution is necessary, there's nothing wrong with it.

Interesting question. I think both are equally bad, if taken in the way that I am thinking of. Of course, there are many ways to look at the question. I am thinking of light/dark in totality, in a flash. If someone were locked in a room that was pure dark or pure light, though, they could adjust to finding their way around in the dark, but the light would likely blind them, so that would be the worse fate-- because they could never see after getting out of the room. The dark would disorient, but not permanently blind. If you meant just being afraid in daylight or night-time, I believe it is healthy to harbor caution no matter the time of day, but there is no real sense in being truly afraid, as panic from fear does no one any good. Does my answer make sense?

It's much worse to be afraid of the light. If you are afraid of the light(unless you have the skin conditions which will not allow you to live in the light) you have no where to turn as we all need light. but you can be helped with you fear of the light or darkness.
A good hynosis should be able to help.

i've never heard of being afraid of the light; unless you are an albino or a vampire i guess. So i am saying afraid of the dark is more normal and afraid of the light is worse.

I look at the light as "knowing" and the dark as "not knowing" so in other words it depends on whether or not a person is afraid of knowing what lies ahead as in the light or afraid of not knowing as if missing out on something hence the dark. So you take your pick.

They're both fears and to people who are afraid of either one, I'm sure they'd think that theirs is the worse. (I've never heard of anyone being afraid of the light.) I think it's worse to be afraid of the dark because you wouldn't be able to tell what's happening around you.

Afraid of the light, you can't really hide away without everyone knowing, like you can in the dark.

Neither, dark or light is only the state of visibility. At dark, the state is total invisibility, in light the state is total visibility. Nothing to be afraid of both.

It is much worse to be afraid of the light. Absence of dark won't hurt you, but absence of light will.

I think fearing light is worse. A fear of the dark has its origins in childhood, which one can grow out of, but if by fearing light, which I'm assuming symbolizes truth, God, and the like...it is a fear more subtle and difficult to overcome. It's a fear which can haunt for life.
