Not sure why its green, but it is normal, don't worry, its a bit scary being a parent for the first time, but you will be fine and so will little one.

well your health visitor is crap if a babys poo is green it mainly means that your baby has a little pain in there stomach , this can be caused by alot of things if your bottle feeding try change the formula , and when making the bottles make sure you give them a good rinse out once that come out the sterilizer if its a steam one then you will be ok , also your baby could have more wind you may think you have it all up but some babies are lazy babies and take a while to wind all mine did , if it still carries on go see your doctor good luck

Just wait till he starts eating regular table food! You'll see all sorts of variations! Anyway, it's normal to be a different color now and then, especially if he has nothing else wrong with him. And especially if a health visitor doesn't think it's abnormal. As long as it's pretty much a one-time deal (not saying it won't ever happen again, just saying that as long as it's not constantly green), I wouldn't worry about it. Like I was saying, my 2 year old's is different depending on the food she eats. Especially green beans, or brocolli, and carrots! I realize your baby isn't old enough for that, but it is still normal on occasion.

I'm assuming your breastfeeding. (To which I say, good for you!) Green poo is often a sign of foremilk/hindmilk imbalance. The foremilk is thinner, thirst-quenching, and has a lot of vitamins. The hindmilk is richer, hunger-easing, and contains the healthy fats needed for brain development.

If your baby is pulling off the breast before nursing fully or is switching sides too often, that can lead to him/her getting more foremilk and less hindmilk, also causing the green poo. It's an easy fix -- just nurse on one side per nursing session for a while and really let your baby drain that breast. The green poo should go back to mustardy-brown within a week.

Congrats on your new baby!

this is normal providing it isn't very watery and frequent which can lead to dehydration.
The bowel is becoming accustomed to its new workload and the effect is that food and waste products pass through the bowel quickly.
Bile is secreted in the upper gastro-intestinal tract and has a wonderful vivid green colouration to it.
Your baby's food is passing through the gut quickly and the bile is also reaching its destination before it actually turns that familiar brown pooh colour.

Be more concerned of red motions.

Your baby's poo is an observation made by yourself rather than a symptom of illness..... always look beyond the observation to see if anything else is going on.....is he/she happy, feeding well, sleeping well.

In uk nhsdirect is very useful for concerned mum's 0845 46 47. Usually very busy on weekends.

ITS NOT APPENDICITIS (severe pain) - trust in your h.visitor.

Sometimes colic can cause green stools but if he isn't crying, is gaining weight and your health visitor isn't concerned then I wouldn't worry.

Green poo can be an indication of a food allergy. Most often this is from milk, not lactose as most people believe. Babies are rarely lactose intolerent, rather it is specific proteins in milk that babies have difficulty with. If you are breastfeeding, cut out milk from your diet. If you are formula feeding, switch to soy. If it persists, talk to your pediatrician.

Are you breastfeeding? Perhaps it was something you ate. My daughter always had very 'interesting' BM. He's not crying, gaining weight, that's pretty much the signs right there of a healthy baby!

i think the green poo has something to do with their bodies not quite fully developed to dispose of waste properly.
but as far as i know, your health visitors are correct, its normal for healthy infants to have greenish coloured poo.
