A second hand shop or hock shop. He can get you a beautiful ring there at 1/4 the cost and some of these rings have never been used. Other's may have been used by happily married people who are deceased or some by people who's marriage ended unhappily. Regardless once the ring is on your finger it is yours and fact that it is not brand new should not be of interest as long as your both happy with the purchase. Good luck and happy shopping for your ring.

Well, it really depends on what you think is affordable..who says its HAS to be a diamond ? It can be a wonderful and beautiful center stone of your favorite. All gems have meanings too. Maybe you think youre birthstone is special. Or maybe you can use a combination of both of your birthstones. Be creative and dont go to a mall jeweler. They rip you off. Not real deals. I would also investigate the possibility of having a family jewel reset. If there are any! A plain ring can be made prettier by something really different. Make it yours--not the jewel case. Ive been married happily for 35 years and have some ideas about what its worth. It is not all about the size of the ring-- believe it or not. I believe it is really just about the feelings. If its too big, then everyone wont believe its real anyway. Its a symbol. Make it personal.

look at all the jewelery stores right in your area..pick a mom and pop place that has been in business for years...you can usually find good deals and if you go to the same place all the time for all your jewelery needs they will get to know you and take really good care of you...and remember..let him buy you a ring from his heart not his wallet

The best thing to do is go to Zales. They have wedding sets. It allows you to get the engagement ring and a wedding band that match and you get a really good price also.
