No one seems to be phased by topless sunbathing there. I did it a few years back on the beach right in front of the Lucayan Resort.

Topless sunbathing is not common among the major islands of the Bahamas, esp. the resort areas. But, there is an activity in the Bahamas called "Island-Hopping" where you take your boat to different cays which are uninhabited islands and you can do whatever you'd like on them-barbecue, sunbathe, etc. because they are tiny islands that are completely isolated and there are literally hundreds of them! Some good ones are Exuma, Long Island, and New Province. Just ask around when you get there, locals always know best!

Public nudity (and topless) are illegal in the bahamas, but if you are
discreet, nobody will bother you, but it really all depends on the clientele at that particular time. If there are families on the beach with children, you will be asked to cover up. If not, none will care. Of course, the locals will be gawking.
You can always take a day trip to a private island where I'm sure you'll find some privacy.

I didn't know much about it before researching but found a couple good sites for you to check out. There is only one resort in the Bahamian Islands that is "adult only, clothing optional" and it's name is Cutlass Bay Club, located on Cat Island. There is a link for that one as well. Enjoy!
