My last 2 periods (Sept. 11 & Oct. 9) have been much lighter, shorter, and brighter in colour then any previous. In the past weeks I’ve been experiencing abdominal pain, similar to menstruation pains, accompanied by sharp shooting pains up the side up into my ribcage. (Other symptoms include headache and slight nausea) I’ve had 2 blood test (Sept. 13 & Sept. 20) , both negative for pregnancy. My Dr. ordered an ultrasound (appt. set for 3 wks from now) and took more blood this morning so that he can run more tests.

I’m waiting it out, but in the meantime, curious if anyone has gone through the same thing and what the outcome was.

Sometimes it's tough being a woman isn't it? When something goes wrong 'down there', you can't see it so your mind thinks all kinds of weird things.
Your doctor has done the right thing here by ordering you the ultrasound. It could be a number of things...endometriosis, cancer, please don't panic, you asked so I'm just giving you the answers...I do not mean to sound upsetting.
You could need a d and c. Like I said, it could be a number of things...Meanwhile, if it gets worse before you have the ultrasound get yourself to the hospital. It could be an ectopic pregnancy too. Anything could be going on. Don't let it get worse and ignore it, get yourself to the doctor if it does.
